Respect your parents
An example of the sort of 'object lesson' taught to the children at Kid Club is as follows:
Steve asked the children about what pets they had. He then brought out a small cardboard box with holes in the side and some straw poking out, and asked if anyone would like to look after whatever was in the box. A little girl came up, and Steve said that this pet would cost lots of money to keep, would need feeding 7 times a day, washing every day....the list went on. When she opened the box, a mirror was inside.
The point being made was that children need a lot of looking after by their parents. The children were encouraged to think about all the things their parents do for them, and then encouraged to respect their parents! |
